DUAC's Initiatives

Public Area improvement of Bhikaji Cama Place District Centre and adjoining village

Like other district centers in Delhi, Bhikaji Cama Place is a typical example of a well intentioned project gone awry. Accordingly, the Commission decided to initiate an integrated study for this district center and the adjoining village.

The issues addressed include the following :

  1. Public place generation on the urban scale
  2. Wider linkages with the surrounding area.
  3. Landscape, pedestrianization
  4. Building presentation (if possible at all), furniture, graphics and signages
  5. Treatment of the Edges and its interface with city level streets
  6. Weaving the urban form of the District Centre with that of the village in a symbiotic and mutually complimentary existence.
